mhuk01Mar 27, 06:55 PMHello
I'm hoping someone (with more experience at this than me) can help. I'm a UK citizen currently working in the US. I'm paid in cash and have been paying this into a US bank account. I finish my contract and head back to the UK in a month or so, and would prefer to keep my money in US dollars at the moment (until I can get a good exchange rate).
As I'm not getting any interest on the money, I would like to invest it in some Apple stock. I have researched this but cannot seem to find the best way of doing this. It seems I have to be a US citizen for most brokers to help me? And I'd rather use US brokers instead of UK as my money is in a US bank account.
If anyone has any advice as to how I as a british citizen can invest USD into a US company that would be great.
Thanks
Martin
xStepApr 3, 04:01 PMAs I said, you need to be explicit about what it is you have and the result you want. For instance...
I have a dictionary that I'd like to use with a UIPickerView to select two values from and display in two UILabels in my app. The dictionary key is a string to be displayed in the first component of the picker. The dictionary value for each key is an array of strings. When the left component changes, I'd like the second component to reflect the appropriate values for the key. Finally, I'd like to use the selected values with my labels.
And yes, current code sample can help and is often asked for because it can make clearer what problem a person is having. When you supply code, wrap it in the CODE tags.

StormbringerOct 21, 06:11 PMGuitar music as in "solo guitar" or "songs with vocals accompanied by guitar"?
I don't like Andy McKee by the way. Yes he does some special tricks (which are not extremely difficult to duplicate), but musically it's nothing imho. If you want a real genius musically and technically try Tommy Emmanuel! :)
You'd like my band too by the way, it's like Rodrigo y Gabriela, except on steelstrings and more different influences (not so concentrated on Spanish). And, we try to sing as well! Shame we still haven't recorded our songs yet.
iDiskJul 23, 12:43 PMXCode 4 looks like its going to take a big step foward. Hopefully as large as the one between ProjectBuilder and XCode.
I'm really looking forward to this. Any know of a possible release date?
I think WWDC or a Apple iOS Event Preview (so 2011), Apple will likely make sure they get it right and release that along with the new iOS 5 or Mac OS X 10.7.
Apple is in no rush to hurry something as important as this. A buggy IDE = Fail for Apple and a slow down in iPad iPhone iTouch and Mac Apps.

Sarah Connor (LindarobbieduncanDec 16, 02:26 PMHas anyone gotten or heard of anyone getting Windows to run on a Mac without an excruciatingly slow emulator? Is there any chance of this happening in the future?
Windows is compiled for x86. Macs are currently PPC. The instruction sets are totally incompatible. This is the reason for Virtual PC.
Assuming you want to run a much less capable OS then you will have to wait for:
1) MS to compile Windows for PPC not x86 (this did used to happen)
2) Wait for Intel based Macs and hope for driver support/boot loader support (maybe January).

I enjoy your website btw :).
InuNachoOct 1, 01:40 AMHey everyone I'm not sure if this is the right section for this, so if it isn't please point me in the right direction.
Anyhow I recently "found" a Macintosh TV, did a fresh install of System 7.1, hooked up my Genesis and... it seems like I'm missing half the frames per second. Both RF and video in have the same problem.
I've changed the very limited options in both TV Setup and Monitors and I still have the same problem. Will installing 7.6 change anything or am I stuck missing half the frames?
EDIT: Ok it's not half the frames missing but it's still noticeable. Also is there a way to adjust the picture quality, the video in is extremely blurry with multicolored artifacts everywhere.

Sarah Connor Is The Baddie IndobbinOct 17, 04:32 AMThis is indeed a well known issue with cubes. Some people were affected immediately, and others only after a period of time like you.
My cube has a 'seizure' about once every 4 months and it will do this for an hour or two and then correct itself and be fine again.
There have been numerous causes and solutions suggested and it appears that different things work for different machines.
The usual cause is the proximity switch - the touch sensitive one on top of the cube. Most people report that the switching on and off is caused by a badly fitting or loose gasket around this switch inside the cube.
Some people say that making sure this gasket is seated firmly will cure the problem, and others have had this replaced (for free) by Apple.
I have never found this to be the case with mine, it just seems to have a mind of its own, for short spells every now and again.
Some people have also reported that this happens on hot days or when the air-con is swithed off. I've not noticed this (as I live in the UK it never gets hot!).
There have been hundreds of discussions on this topic since the cube was introduced and you can probably find some useful info on the web.
I'm not sure why Apple have not provided more help on this topic given what a widespread issue it was/is, but I just searched Google for "Apple Cube Switch problem" and it came back with a lot of links. Bear in mind that the solution for one cube may not help yours! I guess this is the price we have to pay for having the coolest computer the world has ever seen :D
Cheers,
Dobbin
Rx3alphaApr 8, 03:29 PMi haven't thought of that. Anyone have ideas? I also would like to know
RebeccaLApr 3, 09:59 AMMaybe he just has a hard time deciding on which of these two cases to get and is asking for help from the mac rumors cumunity.
OP:
Better than a pool is to go on and read some reviews or watch some on youtube. Both are nice cases but also they both have problems. The Commuter stretetches and is hard to put on. The candyshell scratches like crazy.
nickdagMay 4, 01:21 PMTo intall in your MBP, the bare drive is all you need. There are four mounting nubby screws on the old drive you need to move to the new drive. Use a #6 Torx driver to remove them. Easy.
THAT was exactly what I was lookin' for. Thanks!
skokerDec 3, 11:11 AMNo One?
No offence, but this is MACRumors :D
NameciApr 19, 03:54 PMHave you tried to use an external monitor, that would tell you if your gfx chip is bad.
