When I first came to the U.S., Americans asked me about that “dot on the forehead.” Now, Madonna wears a bindi. Bollywood borrows Hollywood plotlines (well, two or three for one three-hour film). Now, the Kronos Quartet reinterprets Bollywood composer R.D. Burman. Birthday cards are reproducing old kitschy Indian matchbox covers. Body-hugging T-shirts worn by gay guys in the Castro say “San Francisco” in Devnagari script. There are even Bollywood appreciation classes at universities. My kitsch has become their cool....

hopelessGC06-02 01:55 PMYou have to decide whether it is worth the hassle. If you are relying on this EAD to start working on it immediately, then it would make sense to bite the bullet and assume the monetary loss.

If you are not going to use it any time soon, then you should think about appealing and getting a 2 year EAD and save the extra money you will have to spend.

We had gone for FP on Sept 19th and saw LUDs on Sep 20th on our I-485s. But the EAD cards came without our fingerprints. EAD cards came from the same Service center (Nebraska) where the FP notices came from. So wondering, how they did not include our fingerprints in the EAD card?? I had also checked with FBI helpline two weeks back and verified that the FPs were delivered to USCIS.

Anybody else in similar situation?

When you did your FP, for what particular benefit it was intended? Was it strictly for 485 or was it combined for 485 and 765? If it was just for 485 - why do you expect it appear on your 765 and EAD card? As far as it known, 485 and 765 are complete different things and not related to each other in any way. Didn't you know that?

No labor certification for computer(s/w for sure, dunno about h/w side for sure) professionals or petition. Need to show offer letter from the company and letter from company to the consulate.


1. Post on canadian job sites with local canadian address
2. get an interview call, canadian employers do not do interviews over phone like in the US. They ask for personal appearances.
3. If you land the job get an offer letter
4. Take the offer letter to the CCanadian embassy and get a work visa.
5. Once you enter Canada apply for Permanent residency.

fullhouse08-23 01:18 PMI am dependent on our GC application. We had provided initial Finger prints in July 2007. I got an FP notice in 2009 and have just received another FP notice for next week. Meanwhile, the primary applicant on our application has not recd any biometrics appt since the 07 initial set.
Is there anything to be concerned about?

Same thing happened to my wife, but I received only once after filing 485 in 2007. Apparently, USCIS is unable to refresh my wife's FP automatically after 15 months (got this from infopass). Also, I have seen this happening to NSC-CSC-NSC transferred applications and we are one of them. No worries our 485 was approved last week.

amitga02-22 04:06 PMIf you had an approved H1B last, that means that you already are on H1B status as of Oct 01 2006. You can continue to work in US on H1B and get it transfered also. Only when you go out of country then you will have to get new H1B stamped. I also had L1 to H1 change.

The visa officer will surely ask you that "why did you change your status from L1 to H1" So be prepared with a good answer for that.

H1 holder (485 approved) will return afer couple of days.

It often takes a few letters to be sent to USCIS before anything happens in such situations. It seems like USCIS sometimes disregards attorneys' letters. But once someone takes the letter seriously, you should see some soft LUDs on your case; although it does not always happen.
