nozerd04-16 12:20 AMAny additional thoughts / opinions on getting travel insurance ? My uncle and aunt are coming over for 3 months in the summer. My uncle is 65 with typical BP/ Heart problem issues and aunt has no medical problem. Is ICICI Lombardi the best option ?
Any other viewsand recomendations from those who have actually had to use the insurance and submit a claim etc ?

I checked the full text of this bill, it does not have anything else besides temporary quota increase for H-1B.

How can we actively participate in this process? How can we find out about such bills when they are still in the works and make suggestions to the lawmakers to include relief for EB issues?

"The annual limit for EB visa numbers is 140,000. This number also includes the dependents of an EB applicant. In addition there is a per-country limit set at 7% of the total."

By these numbers, it looks like there are 7%x140K = 9,800 GC approvals for India in each year. If we factor in 1 dependent for each GC applicant, the number of primary applicants approved is roughly 9,800/2 = 4900 Indians per year. And this supposedly includes the EB1, EB2, EB3 categories. If we divide that equally, it could mean hardly 4900/3 =1633 primary applicants get approved each year in each category !! Is my inferences incorrect ? [someone tell me its better than this]

I don't know how many Indians are waiting for their GCs, but it sure seems like everybody I meet on the street is waiting for his GC .. so, I guess its going to be a long long wait.

[I am an Indian and hence, I took the example of Indians above. I guess the numbers are similar for all other countries. My Labor PD is Jul-2002]

That is not the whole story. Unused visas from other countries are added into the pool for over-subscribed countries. For instance last year, India got about 49,000 immigrant visas in the EB category, while my country got only 1350.

sash06-19 09:33 PMHi, I need to travel to India in October. I am told by my lawyers that I cannot travel until I receive the receipt notice for I-485. If my I-485 is filed within the first few weeks of July, when can I expect the receipt notice?

Also, my husband's H1B is currently under extension. Is there any risk to his traveling to India in October with a receipt notice for I-485? He will need to get H1B visa stamped. Can they reject his H1B visa?

I believe that you do not have to refile just because you lost the hard copy...
This is not a lottery ticket that if you lose, you are left with nothing..
There must a procedure to get the same certificate reissued from DOL..
Please do the research and let is know...

Just send an email directly to the consulate and request for emergency appointment stating that you have to return to your project. I have done it before

It is advisable to carry all the LCA's, just in case, though the VO might just look at the current one. I am sure you will be taking all the other docs required.

kondur_00708-24 10:23 PMI hate to give you the bad news, but as far as I know, if you filed 140 after the expiry date on Labor, it will be denied.
And yes, there is a rule about this that they came up with since past few months (?about a year now..)
I would suggest to start a new PERM ASAP and get a help of a good competent lawyer this time.
Good Luck.

(Although there are only a couple of days between the expiry date on your labor and 140; but if you really filed your 140 after the expiry of PERM, it will be denied. Are you sure of RD? if it is ND and your RD is within the expiry, it may still be valid).
