1) Make sure the 360 supports 1080p over VGA (it didn't used to, but they did update it last year, so it might now).

2) There's a very good likelihood that the 360 isn't rendering 1080p (or even 1080i) for most/any games. It's probably rendering at 540p60 and scaling that to 1080i30 or 1080i60. For 1080p it's probably upscaling 720p. Point is that if your set has a good scaler/deinterlacer for 1080i to 1080p (which it very probably does) using 1080i over component is probably going to look just as good as HDMI.

EDIT: Oops, realized you were asking about HDDVD as well as games - which means the 360 is doing "real" 1080p. If you are serious about HDDVD movies you should probably consider the HDMI equipped connection, just in case they decide to turn on the token constraint flags.

Also that is one sure way to fry your Mac. Power surge can happen at any time.. Do you really trust those $100 surge boards for 24/7 use or do you have UPS.

Also think of how much dust gets in there...

Not smart to leave your computer on 24/7.

My first Mac and first iMac... the 2006 Core Duo... left it on 24/7 unless I had to reboot due to updates or crashes.

But since I got my Mac Pro last year, I didn't need it on anymore. Funnily enough, the hardy iMac won't turn on anymore :p

When Hill was traded to the


GodBlessJan 25, 03:32 AMDeleting the plist did not fix the problem bt deleting the INBOX.mbox did. Unfortunately it also took out all the emails I already had in the INBOX, so i'm glad I just left it on the desktop.

Oops... I submitted my edit after your problem was solved. Glad to see everything worked out. It looks like we were thinking the same thing to solve the problem though. ;)

flipsterMay 6, 08:27 PMI called Apple, they said it's most likely a graphics card failing (I agree).

The weird thing is, is that 10-15 in while playing a game, it completely locks up, but the mouse cursor is movable (weird).

You have to hold the power button to get it to work again. But once booted back into OS X, it's slow, and the screen flickers once, and then locks up again.
The TechDoolDeluxe tests came back normal too....

This only happens when gaming for about 10 mintues, and then the lock ups happen. (weird thing is mouse cursor is still movable)

Any thoughts?

tjcampbellApr 4, 04:42 AMI had a train ride from London to Aberystwyth (long!!!!) and I played "Syphon Filter" the entire way. It's an awesome game and likely my favorite so far on the PSP. I've also had a blast with Lumines, but it can be a bit stressful! Someone on here mentioned the DS. In ALL honesty. The DS Lite is a better machine than the PSP. You should fold her up and dip it in your pocket. Unlike the PSP which you always have to be careful with and wait for it to load. The only reason I still use the PSP is because of the video feature. I have PSPware and often put family guy episodes and such on it. But in the games department I find myself playing my girlfriend's DS Lite more than anything. I played Mario on the plane the other day for 4 hours. Either way, you'll have fun.

It's just the stock 2.0 GHz 15" version, but initial indications are good.

It downloaded a 6701 WU, which do tend to be slower than the others, so I'll update these figures once its done a few different units.

TPF: 11 min 46 s
PPD: 6184
CPU temp: 85 C
Fan speed: 4667 rpm (both)
Power draw: 58-59 W (screen off, 62-63 W with screen on)

For comparison, my 2.4 C2D iMac does about 1400 ppd using 75 W, but at a much cooler 54 C.

Feel free to add your own Sandy Bridge numbers for comparison.
