latest wallpapers of cutetwoodccMay 14, 06:32 PMI was thinking could Arn not give out a paid subscription to the forums for a year say when you hit milestones of 250,000 points or so?
Budget is around AUS$800-1000, and I will be getting most of the parts in 3 to 4 months unless there is new tech coming not to long after it?
i would love it if Arn would do that!
what is that American?
it depends if you want to go intel or amd. also, you have to consider that the new GPU client is coming eventually, which should help ATI video cards greatly
cal6nMay 2, 01:09 PMI've just measured mine, an out of warranty replacement from Dec 2010.

Free Baby Wallpapers, SweetRodimus PrimeApr 23, 01:12 AMTrump is basically the male version of Palin, so I don't want him anywhere near the whitehouse. He's way too far to the right, and I'm pretty sure he would totally mess up the country if he somehow was elected.
I think Palin is a hell of a lot better than Trump and Palin is very bad.

eatapcOct 26, 09:14 PMThe .mac mail has been an embarrassment to Apple for some time. Ugly as sin and very limited. Strange, but Comcast updated their webmail interface this week also. The one feature I wish that Apple would add (unless I've missed it) is a button for "report as spam." I get more spam from my .mac account than from my Comcast account; with Comcast, you can report it and have the sender blocked.

You don't have to stop posting in general. Only about stuff you download or read on ADC.
I'm going to predict a Friday release, to coincide with Aperture 1.5.

SmileyDudeOct 26, 06:26 PMOf course I can see the other side of this. Writing universal apps is not just a matter of "checking a box" in XCode; despite what I've heard some non-coders say on the subject.
I call bull -- I have a lot of code that I compile as universal at home and work. Sure it's a little more than checking a box, but for a lot of code, it's not much more.
And for an app that started as Intel, making the reverse transition is probably much easier. There is no CodeWarrior legacy crap, MPW, etc, etc. It already compiles in GCC 4 and will continue to do so under PPC. The only remaining issues are endian issues and maybe the possible use of assembly code.
MrFireworkNov 14, 09:38 AMso then... maybe...

... just a thought.
ct2k7Apr 23, 06:27 PMA computer's best feature is its application, but the operating system that runs the applications should not be neglected.
Windows is garbage.
Virtualizing Windows desktops will be like a bad sitcom - everybody is laughing except the ones who work on it.
Personally, I lean left-wing on some issues, right-wing on one or two issues. but prefer not being labeled as anything. For left-wing or right-wing, they're both part of a big turkey. I am an individual. I am a free man. Not a number. :D
My appearance could be better, but I'd rather get to work. Substance over style. Mac has a great look, but the OS is what counts the most.
PCs aren 't much cheaper once you add in support costs, not to mention adware, trialware, and other crapware that get preinstalled. And once info is added into the registry, it can (usually) be removed but the registry cannot be compacted. Bloat creeps in and reinstalling is inevitable, if performance is a concern. Even with Win7, which has bugs that SP1 hasn't fixed either...
OS X has a couple of foibles, but compared to Windows "it just works" is not an inaccurate statement and, quite frankly, is vastly superior to Windows.
Mostly entirely subjective, and I have to disagree with you in a lot of places.
iGarySep 13, 07:21 AMIf you don't have someone to drive you home and look after you for the night, it is recommended to stay in hospital overnight.
iGary i wish that al goes to plans and your certainly in my pray's :)
I don't mind that at all - I'm actually hoping to stay just one night in case...
Funny thing is I could walk to the hospital (and the Apple Store :D) in 10 minutes...
I just don't want to wake up puking all over the place.
ehouiMay 5, 01:14 PMThe real question is why do people still buy Macs (in increasing numbers) in spite of this... hmmm... makes you wonder...
WinniApr 1, 08:44 AM2011. People are still watching TV? Scary.
steve2112Apr 23, 12:12 PMHaving run Linux for the past two years, I find this bit hilarious.
Yeah, no kidding. I have all three flavors sitting at my desk at home. I have a Win 7 gaming rig, Mac Mini, and an old P4 Linux machine. Personally, I have never found Windows difficult to use, especially compared to Linux. So, do I have split personalities or something?
Anyway, I am the total opposite of most of these. I do have a college degree, but I am nearly a carnivore, can't stand wine (give me a good craft beer or whiskey), prefer Dr. Pepper, and I have no idea what San Pellegrino Limonata is. If I rode a bike, it would be something insanely fast that would get me killed quickly, like a Ducati or something.
mrblahAug 14, 08:43 PMThe only people who like these ads are mac users. They make the zealots feel special and supperior which might have been the whole point. As said before, you never get customers by making fun of them. These ads only alienate POTENTIAL customers, thats not a success and its not brilliant. So far apple users are the only ones defending these ads as representing products rather than the people who use the products. If everyone else doesnt see it the same way then the ad is a failure no matter how much people argue, once the target audience misses the point then youve lost. Youll get absolutely nowhere asking "are these ads elistist?" on a mac forum, go ask it on a forum with a high number of PC users and Im sure the responses will be 100% different. Computers arent cheap, if you make fun of someone who spent a lot of money on something, something they probably like a lot, youll just make them defend themselves if you act like they made a stupid decision. I mean jeez, how is that not common sense?
While Im sure they made a few sales with the ads (or pushed a lot of people on the edge of getting a mac back over to the PC side), they could have made MUCH better ones that didnt make fun of potential customers. HP's commercials are good examples of how to sell a computer, they show celebrities and all the things they do on their laptop. Someone new to computers is going to see that ad much more favorably over the apple ad since it actually shows why they should get a computer rather than how stupid everyone else is for not having a mac.
The ads were well executed like usual, but the stupid idea strengthens the stereotype of apple user elitism. I think apple should try to fix that stereotype rather than keep reinforcing it. Instead of saying "hey dumbass, stop playing with calculator and get a mac" in a passive aggressive way, they could have said "pc's are cool but you might find that macs are better at a lot of things, check it out."
