I got the pink slip 3 weeks back with one month severance. So my target was to secure the job in one month to avoid loss of pay. Finally secured the job with 3 offers from 3 top companies.
Some tips if it may be helpful to others , that I recently expereinced

1. Read your resume thoroughly and see if there are anything that you can improve and make the resume with the core skills, do not make the resume of mix of different profiles, like dba, architect, project manager, make them all seperate.
2. Try to make the submission to the direct employer or recruiter on top of the chain. You can do that finding contacts on linked in.
3. Do not compromise a lot, this makes these recruiters to think that you are vulnerable for any exploitation, (happened with me, I kicked there butt after getting selected and telling them on why did I do that)

Crystal ball gazing

Everyone wants us to put on our genie�s hat, gaze into our crystal ball, and try to predict what is going to happen in the next few months. So here it goes�

Congress is set to debate CIR in May. HLG thinks that there is a reasonable chance that one house of Congress passes CIR in the May/June timeframe. And that the other house of Congress passes another CIR in June/July. With some negotiation, a compromise CIR bill could be on the president�s desk by the middle of the summer � say July.

In addition, we are also actively courting the bridge legislation that we�ve mentioned many times. HLG was privy to a meeting that took place just this week with a senior staffer in an important Senator�s office. The challenge here is to find the right must-pass legislation that can serve as a host.

Putting this all together HLG is slightly raising our latest estimate. We�re willing to print that there is a 60% chance that either CIR or Bridge legislation is passed and signed by the President by August 1. Whenever a bill is passed it will likley take an additional 30-60 days before the first visas are issued.

07/02/2007: To File or Not To File, That Is the Question!

The USCIS Service Centers Operation office confirmed that the Servce Centers would reject any I-485 applications whose visa numbers are unavailable under the DOS reviised Visa Bulletin that received today would be rejected and returned. In the concurrent I-140 and I-485 application filing, if the I-140 petition filing fee is paid by a separate check, they will accept the I-140 petition only and complete the case and reject and return I-485 and ancillary applications packet to the filers.

roseball04-03 12:23 AMI opened a service request last week regarding the pending I 485 case. Today I got the following letter in mail. "We are actively processing your case. However we have to perform additional review on this case. Contact us after 6 months." . When I opened a SR last year I got the same response.
I was wondering is this a standard SR reply or is the case really under additional review ? I know my name check got cleared long back ( info pass ). I think additional reviews are done by Department of Homeland Security and probably USCIS put the case on hold until DHS clear the case. Since my case is in limbo for over a year, is there any way to speedup the "additional review" process ?? I am thinking of sending all the "additional review" mails I got along with the case details to senators. Please let me know if anybody got any better ideas.

Yes, sending your case details to your senator would help. I would also take an InfoPass appointment and find out from an IO on what's actually holding up your case since your PD has been current for a while now. Good luck.

This is the first time i have applied for my I-485 and i am on H1b befor this and my record is very very clean...

Coming to the address on my I-485 i called up USCIS and also went fr an INFOPASS appointmentt and i was told that the address i told matched with theirs on the file...when i asked for a second copy to be sent they said that it will take 30-45 days for me to receive it...i am really worried..

Since the USCIS case status said "We mailed you a decision on 29'th NOV " and it is not 30 days wil it still be considered abandenonment denial??

Does any of you know whether my dependents need to sign the Appeal/motion to reopen or my attorney can file on their behalf??

One of my cousin works in oracle and he has mentioned to me that oracle is not filing in EB2 category (they used to file before), not sure is it for every one or depends on team to team or person to person.

Btw, i am on AOS if that is what was meant from my legal status..

garybanz09-27 11:03 AMMy EAD cheques got encashed today. I had sent a single cheque for myself and my wife. I do notice two LIN numbers on the back of the cheque. BUT when i search for those numbers on USCIS website its says number DO NOT exist in the system. Has anyone faced similar issue?

Did you send two separate checks for 485 or did you combine them into one? How many LIN numbers did you see on the back of the check for 485?



ksvreg09-25 11:16 AMMy H1B expired in April 2008. My company is not willing to extend H1B any more due to the reason that I got EAD and I-140 approved and pending 485. Is it possible to get H1B extension from current or future company based on approved I-140? Or Is it too late?

You might wondering why do I need H1B now. I am not sure why I need H1B. Some of my friends who had trouble in their I-140/485 were able to survive with H1B. So, it looks like it is better to have dual. H1B and EAD.

Please advise.



venky0806-24 12:42 AMLook no further. EB3 (Other Workers) became "Unavailable" last week and nothing that I read says it cannot happen for EB1/EB2/EB3.

EB3 (other workers) were unavailable in july 07 bulletin...that does not mean they were stopped accepting applications without notice...Arkbird do you agree on this explanation?:confused:
