kishbaJul 5, 06:06 PMyou can add ram, hard drives, displays, etc. all after you get the computer. i'd recommend getting the dual processor because you can't upgrade to that later on.

i think dv lets you capture roughly 5 minutes for every 1 gigabyte of hard drive space. you could probably only capture 350 minutes with the 80 gig hard drive. so upgrade later :)

Interesting you say that. I had to modify mine as well to get my Vertex 2 to fit in the OptiBay. I had to shave down some of the plastic to get the screw slots to line up properly. The MCE OptiBay is kinda flimsy, but it does seem to work just fine.

mifApr 13, 10:07 AMIs there any way to silence once and for all a Blu-Ray burner in Mac Pro (No disk inside). I have tried two different units, one from LG and another from HP. They sometimes began to emit annoying sound, as in old western movies (night scenes), if you know what i mean.

Seems like active buttons and progress bars are the only ones that use still use this colour. It's gone from Scroll Bars, Group Tabs, Popup Lists.

Yes I'm hoping like Highlight Colour it becomes completely user choice with a few well chosen default colours. I do prefer Graphite personally it's just tones things down to be less garish so although with extreme reduction in use the blue may not be so bad.

Any sign that they maybe standardizing on a sidebar background colour?
What with a couple of greys and a blue across various Apple apps. it would be good if this was user definable as well?

Try this link... http://www.saucedesigns.com/sauce.html (warning - the song will immediately play when you load this link... it is designed to be a pop-up that is initiated by the customer... so they don't have to listen if they don't want to!)

You will see how the song plays on Mac's Safari, but not IE/Firefox. It plays just fine on IE/Firefox for PC, so it isn't a browser-specific thing, it has to be a Mac/PC thing. Right?

notjustjayApr 24, 11:31 AMWhat model is the miniDV camcorder? Many (most?) of them have AV inputs, but most of them require a special cable that breaks out the RCA jacks. For example, my Sony cable looks like this (http://www.pickegg.com/wholesale/3-5mm-jack-to-3-rca-phono-lead-audio-video-av-cable-black.html).

Assuming you do have an AV input, and cable, then you can connect the VHSC output directly to the AV input from the miniDV camcorder. Then connect a Firewire cable from your camcorder to the Mac, and fire up iMovie (the older version, iMovie HD, is actually preferable, but you can capture with the newer versions too).

What you do next depends on the model of miniDV camcorder you have and whether it has "AV to DV pass through" capability (note: sometimes this is a setting that you have to turn on in the camcorder menus). If it does, then just start playing the VHSC tape, and you'll see the playback in iMovie and you can begin capturing right away.

If you don't have the passthrough capability, then you'll need to dub the VHSC tape to a miniDV tape, then rewind and playback the miniDV tape to get the output into iMovie.

If your DV camcorder doesn't do AV inputs, then you might also consider getting a USB video capture device that accepts input directly from RCA jacks. There are plenty of them around (like this one (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10810&cs_id=1081003&p_id=5616&seq=1&format=2)) but I don't know what the quality is like.

But you seem to be by-passing them by using java RemoteShellClient directly from the command line. So I don't think they're the cause of your error.

According to JavaClient.bat (now the JavaClient bash script), RemoteShellClient expects 4 arguments. From the look of the command your trying to use, these arguments are: 1) the IP address of the remote computer, 2) the port of the remote computer, 3) the command to run on the remote computer, 4) the arguments to be passed to the remote command. The remote command and argument suggests that the remote computer is running Windows. Is that the case?

Do you know where the error is coming from? I've not seen bash output this error, so I doubt it's coming from there. Is there other output to suggest it's coming from RemoteShellClient, or from the remote computer?

Read and write speed is awesomely fast. But there is a hitch: the speed out of the box is a fairy tale that does not hold up with sustained use, although the ongoing speed is still superb.

The speed is actually understated when the drive is first used; fresh out of the box, the Crucial 256GB achieves a blistering-fast 215MB/sec write speed, and 267MB/sec read speed on the DiskTester fill-volume test. Those are fantastic numbers! (The fastest laptop hard drives might sustain 98MB/sec on the fastest part of the drive).

On the second and subsequent fill-volume tests, write speed declines by 17% over the initial results, settling down to a still superb 187MB/sec, about 6% below the rated speed. Furthermore, it develops a periodic stutter, which can be seen in the blue line in the graph. Read speeds drop only a smidgen, remaining above 260MB/sec.
