It's fine for vinyl and even new CDs releases, but the selection and prices are superior at any of the online places mentioned above - eBay, Amazon, Half.com and even SecondSpin.

i would disagree with this --i've bought a good few of used cd's at amoeba and have never been disappointed

luminosityMar 11, 12:49 AMI was part way through switching to Nikon (I'd bought a D300). I decided I wanted to get a camera more suited to landscape/studio so I figured I was safer switching back to Canon and the 5DII.

Over 18 months later, and I'm glad I did. I never thought it would take Nikon this long to release an affordable 5DII competitor.

Nikon's competitor remains the D3x. Canon has no real competitor to the D700 without paying much more for the 1D Mark IV. The price differences are stark in both cases.

Then be sure to jailbreak with Sn0wBreeze 2.3b4 and not 2.3b1~2 as they give less than the best user experience. iH8sn0w.com for some reason seems to have issues with the correct link to Sn0wBreeze 2.3b4 when you use IE9/8 and often points to just Sn0wBreeze 2.3b2 :(

BFMC999Dec 16, 12:54 PMI recently saw a pc with OSX running on it. And that's neat. I'm mainly a Windows user but I've remained respectful to Apple hardware but I can't stand OSX. It's stable and it's easy to use but I much rather prefer the unrestricted control a knowledgeable user can have over Windows. Thus leads me to my question;

Has anyone gotten or heard of anyone getting Windows to run on a Mac without an excruciatingly slow emulator? Is there any chance of this happening in the future?

Even before I ordered my mac I knew I would need extension cables for the ACD because I read posts on how short the monitor's cables were and also saw it in the local Apple store. I contacted Dr. Bott to confirm their mDP cable supported audio passthrough.

FWIW: I bought my Dr. Bott cables from here:

I got it from Mac-Pro because (a) they were hard to get at the time (even Dr. Bott itself didn't have any, which apparently is the case even now -- just checked the 2m on their site (http://www.drbott.net/product/9378-MDEB/)) and (b) I found a bunch at Mac-Pro which is fairly close to where I live. Heh, the price there now looks a buck or two cheaper then I paid at the time!

Editorial: Many of the ads for these kind of cables are, IMO, incomplete since they also come with USB. So when they advertise the cable supports audio (generally they say "Audio and video passthrough" if they say anything at all) you can't tell for sure if the mDP supports audio in addition to the USB which of course supports audio. So what I do when faced with ambiguities is contact the manufacturers directly.

At least Monoprice, my preferred (first choice) place for ordering cables, is honest to say up front that their mDP cables don't support audio. They're a great place to order cables if the cables fulfill you needs.


thanks for your help. I just got a 2010 quad which i will upgrade the cpu to a hex in a month or so. I also got a 27acd .. nice monitor .. kinda miss the 30acd i used to have but decided to get the 27 instead. I have no idea why apple makes these cables so damn short. I might pick up a second monitor so i guess i will need two sets.

Whatever word/phrase one uses, it would still need to be defined.

Or one could put the cam on auto ISO and put a piece of electrical tape over the ISO button :)

Clearly ISO (a measure of film sensitivity), although conceptually similar, is a bit of a misnomer when it comes to digital. Wouldn't a more appropriate term be something like "Gain Factor"?

I would think this would be an easier concept to grasp for newcomers to DSLRs, especially when trying to understand the trade-off between gain and noise.

How can you tell I'm bored today... :)

NermalJun 28, 05:39 AMI remember having a similar problem back in the late 80s - I had a Commodore 64, which plugged into a PAL TV and had the British keyboard layout. When I first got a PC, it came with an American keyboard (as all PCs sold here do) and I had to get used to it.

Fast forward 15 years, put me in front of a British keyboard and my typing slows dramatically. So you'll get used to it.

I can already see so many uses for people using such programs as Aperture and the Final Cut Studio, for audio professionals and DJs, and it seems like it could be great for compositors using Phenomenon when it comes next year to replace shake.

I'd love to have a regular ACD then an Apple Multi-Touch HD display to work on.

There's no way that Apple will limit this to the iPhone for longer than it takes to effectively create screens and programs to work with it.

i was at the local Apple store 4 days ago and the place was packed and i watched 3 iMacs and 7 notebooks and a mini leave in just over an hour. i mentioned MWSF to an employee and he laughed and said most people didn't know about it. they are not having ANY trouble selling stuff in the run up.

yeah, people who hit these forums are not buying, but everyone else is going to town and laying their cards down. look at estimates for Apples sales over the holiday! :D

Besides, who cares if they know you "did the loophole". Bottom line is you had an OG iPhone and then had another. Who cares :confused:
