Since the problem only appears on the new hardware, I'm not sure I'd place the blame on Boot Camp.

Apple is not going to replace it with one bad pixel...

kishbaJul 5, 06:06 PMyou can add ram, hard drives, displays, etc. all after you get the computer. i'd recommend getting the dual processor because you can't upgrade to that later on.

i think dv lets you capture roughly 5 minutes for every 1 gigabyte of hard drive space. you could probably only capture 350 minutes with the 80 gig hard drive. so upgrade later :)

robotrenegadeJul 5, 05:08 PMOk my mom just got a cable modem today. I have dsl at my house so I'm not sure if i'm doing everything right. The problem is, the airport is not getting an ip address from the modem. I just un-pluged everything for 8min and still nothing(This is applecare said to do.) The modem works fine when hooked up to a computer direct. Anyone have any hints at all. This is really getting to me. Shes running 10.2.6 and all the newest versions of airport/basestation etc.

This past Friday a classmate had a look at the iBook I brought to class and said he was going to get a Mac. :) He said that he hates desktops and wants to do something with Photography, but not for heavy usage. I recommended him to wait until Sep/Oct until new iBooks are released, so he (1) can get an older one cheap, or (2) get the fastest one.

Thanks for all the help. I downloaded the iStat program and found that the highest temp is around 40 to 50 degree C. I thought that's not normal and worry that it will hurt the inside components.

I will try to put my macbook with more load and see if the temp goes up even higher. I am surprise macbook has such high temp as I never experienced this type of heat when using other brands of laptop! :(

crazydreamingSep 27, 12:46 PMI'm living in a 2 bedroom/4 person suite with a living room. For the first week or so, we connected using the old way: an Ethernet cable.

But I realized unplugging and plugging back in was silly when I had an Airport Express sitting in my desk.

So now, we have a wireless network. I lowerd the strength, made it password protected, and hidden. It's awesome! It's hooked up to my JBL Creature speakers and my printer, so now, we can be in the living room online, printing, playing tunes, whatever. Plus there's never anything to plug in when I bring my computer back to the room, just open it up!.

Watch out though, my roomates have played a trick on me once. I was sitting in front of my computer (and speakers) and my roomate decided to start blasting music on my speakers... I jumped quite a bit...

The only downside is now I can't share my iTunes library with the rest of the Residence Hall, nor can I view theirs.

If you have an external USB DVD ROM drive - yes, OSX DVD will boot from it (that's how I installed) - just press alt when starting up and select it for boot.

Otherwise if you leave the current disk as it is - it will boot from there and then you can clone it to SSD and then boot from SSD and reformat the older drive. Not recommended if you have lots of stuff on the old drive - fresh install cloning is fine as the previous poster said.

Time Machine should not have any trouble at all.
